BLANCO WATER UPDATE: THURSDAY 08H30
Two pipebursts yesterday evening in Blanco resulted in limited water supply to certain areas. The pipebursts also affected the filling of the upper (ESKOM) reservoir. Water trucks from both George and Eden District Municipality continued filling the upper reservoir throughout the night and the current status is 34% full as of 6am this morning.
Three civil engineering teams worked on repairing the burst pipes last night and all repairs have been completed.
Both pumps at the lower (Golden Valley) reservoir malfunctioned last night and one has been fully repaired. Technicians are working on the second pump.
The small pump which feeds the upper (ESKOM) reservoir malfunctioned yesterday but was repaired again and is working.
At present the George Civil Engineering Department is not aware of any consumers who do not have water at all and continue to work on stablizing the network indicating that water pressure will remain low until the reservoirs have filled to capacity.
The public of Blanco is thanked for their patience in this regard and requested to continue to use water sparingly to enable the system to stabilize as quickly as possible.
