George lights up during Lights festival 2018

A crowd of roughly 8 000 people cheered and shouted when the Executive Mayor of George,Melvin Naik, switched  the Festive Lights on at Unity Park on Saturday night.
Mayor Naik said the George festival of lights is one of the highlights on the social calendar, a time to reflect on the past year and time to spend with family and friends.

Mayor Naik welcomed holidaymakers to George and invited everyone to view social media and the media for details on holiday activities. He wished GO GEORGE a happy 4th anniversary, appealed to everybody to use water sparingly and thanked the organising committee for their leadership. The George Lights organising committee would like to thank all the artists, officials and security who did an excellent job.

A special mention to the hit artists, Emo Adams, the main act of the evening, Jonty Hendrix, Craig Claassen, Brian Lakay, Stephen de Klerk, Hakkiesdraad en Flambojant, Geraldo Lewis, Uniondale Rieldansers, Sixolo Bro’s Jazz Band and Prerogatives. Thank you to George Municipality’s Protection Services, Civil Engineering Services, Electrotechnical Services, Community Services, the SAPS and Bambanani Security.
