George Municipality Long Service Awards 2016

George Municipality honoured its long serving employees at an annual grand dinner held in the George Civic Centre.

Executive Mayor, Aldm Melvin Naik said he finds himself amongst individual heroes who have given a great deal of their lives to something greater than themselves. “Although we blossom when we are being praised, greatness does not lie in the accolades that we receive but within our ability to serve and to serve well,” he said.

Aldm Naik said our greatest asset of the George Municipality is not our infrastructure, our programmes of our projects – it is our officials who deliver, implement, act, roll out, address and solve.

He commended the officials for their hard work and congratulated the officials on reaching their different milestones.

Mr Trevor Botha, Municipal Manager of George, said “our committed, dedicated and loyal staff is one of the main reasons why George Municipality is considered as one of the best managed Municipalities in the country. He also thanked the families of the staff for availing them to sometimes work long hours

Ms Jenny Kiewit, Manager at Human Resources and Cllr Mxolisi Nyakati, Chief Whip of Council were the Masters of Ceremonies at the event.
