George Tourism welcomes new marketing officer

The George Tourism team has been strengthened by the appointment of a Senior Tourism Officer who will focus on marketing. Sharon House has a number of years experience as the former marketing manager of a popular local tourist attraction and started with George Tourism in August. She will lead the marketing team consisting of events, information, membership and social media officers and formulate a marketing and brand strategy for the George district, under the leadership of Tourism Manager, Joan Shaw.

‘Sharon brings a fresh, modern perspective to the team and we are all excited to work with her and learn from her, as she guides the marketing of the George area into a new era.  Her experience and knowledge bely her young age, and her bubbly enthusiasm is a huge asset, not only to the team, but the entire destination.’ says Joan Shaw. Sharon who studied at the University of Cape Town and relocated to George in 2011, is excited about the launch of the marketing strategy to the industry and the plans to build unique individual brands for George, Wilderness and Uniondale using a two-pronged approach.
