No Renewal Notices For Motor Vehicle Licences For 31 December 2016

Western Cape motorists are advised that renewal notices for motor vehicle licences will not be sent via the South African Post Office while the National Department of Transport (NDOT) is in the process of transferring the electronic National Traffic Information System (ENATIS) to the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).

ENATIS is currently managed centrally at NDOT, including the issuing of motor vehicle licence renewal notices. This transition will directly affect the thousands of motorists in the province who are required to renew their licence discs by the end of December 2016, and possibly by 31 January 2017.

Motorists are urged to be proactive by checking their licence disc expiry date, and ensuring that they apply in time to avoid penalties. We in the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works will do all we can to assist motorists during this period.

Affected motorists can visit their local registering authority with their South African identity document and proof of physical address.

Affected motorists residing outside of the City of Cape Town can contact the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works at our Provincial Service Centre to find out the amount they owe through one of the following service channels:

Affected motorists living in the City of Cape Town who wish to renew the vehicle licence online can go to http://www.capetown.gov.za/City-Connect/Pay/Driving-and-vehicles/Vehicle-licences/Pay-your-vehicle-licence and follow the instructions on that page.
