PHASE 4B: GO GEORGE PREPARING COMMUNITY FOR BUS SERVICE

 

Preparing the community to feel confident to use the bus service when it rolls out to Parkdene, Ballotsview, Conville, Borcherds and Lawaaikamp on 22 March, the GO GEORGE communications team has started engagements at larger businesses last week.

They were welcomed by management and given the opportunity to talk to staff, helping them planning their route to work from where they live, and indicating where and how to transfer between buses if needed. Employers with a substantial number of staff who will use the new service are welcome to request a visit.

Champions on their way

The communication champions had undergone intensive training on the system, routes and timetables last year for the roll-out that was postponed. As almost a year has transpired since, they are all doing a refresher course this week and will start their door-to-door visits in the community on Saturday, and thereafter from Monday to Saturday every week until the roll-out.

Residents in the area are kindly requested to open their homes to the champions who will work from 09:00 until 13:00 on Saturdays and 10:00 until 18:00 on weekdays to also reach people after work. They will explain how the system works, handing out route maps and timetables, and answer questions about using the bus service.

From the first day of roll-out, the champions will be at bus stops and on the buses, assisting passengers and familiarising them with the new way of travelling all over town on a scheduled bus service. Passasiersdiensbeamptes op pad

Die personeeldiensbeamptes (champions) het verlede jaar intensiewe opleiding oor die stelsel, roetes en tydroosters ondergaan vir die bekendstelling van die diens wat toe uitgestel is. Aangesien amper ’n jaar sedertdien verloop het, doen hulle hierdie week 'n opknappingskursus en begin Saterdag met deur-tot-deur besoeke in die gemeenskap, en daarna van Maandag tot Saterdag elke week tot die ontplooiing.

Inwoners in die gebied word vriendelik versoek om die beamptes in hul huise te ontvang wanneer hulle kom aanklop.
