Raadslid plant bome in haar wyk tot voordeel van die jonger geslag

Rdsl. Marlene Barnardt-Viljoen, Wyksraadslid vir Wyk 4 het die geleentheid aangegryp om bome by Sonneblom Creche in Touwsranten en Hoekwil Primêr te plant, nadat die Departement Landbou, Bosbou en Visserye die bome geskenk het. Rdsl Barnardt-Viljoen het in haar geselsie met die leerders en kleuters gesê as hulle ouer mense is, sal die bome volgroeid wees en hulle kan dan aan hul kinders sê hulle was die dag daar en het gehelp om die bome te plant. Sy het gesê dit is ‘n wonderlike erfenis vir die jonger geslagte, omdat bome lewe gee. Barnardt-Viljoen het gesê om bome te plant is ter opbouing van al ons gemeenskappe in George en omliggende gebiede. Sy het ook vrae aan die leerders e die kleuters gestel oor die voordele van bome in die omgewing. As deel van die Behuisingsverbruikersopvoeding-projek, onder leiding van Edwin Herandien, adjunk direkteur: Menslike Nedersettings, is die departement van Landbou, Bosbou en Visserye, gekontak en versoek om te help met die skenking van bome vir die verfraaiing van Wyk 4, insluitende Touwsranten en Hoekwil. Nokukhanya Khanyo Mwandla van die departement het die George Munisipaliteit met 100 bome voorsien, met die belofte van nog 100 bome aan die einde van Oktober.
