World of Tomorrow Festival - Secondary School Evening

01 August 2019 - 01 August 2019
17h00

George Municipality proudly announces the launch of the first  “ World of Tomorrow Festival 2019” taking place at the George Arts Theatre from the 31st July to 2nd August 2019.

An Industrial Theatre Competition for Primary and High Schools, this festival will introduce and explore the topic of “How do you mitigate climate change with energy efficiency.”

This theatre event was established to help increase public awareness of the importance of energy efficiency and the participating schools will each present a 15 minute drama production.

The Schools  will compete at the George Arts Theatre and our judging panel constituted of energy and drama experts will assess participants on their message, use of recycled materials and use of the dramatic arts.

Heidedal Primary, St Mary's Primary, Blanco Primary, Hibernia Primary, Kretzenhoop Primary School, McKinlay Reid International School, Thembalethu High, Rundle College and George High are the participating schools for 2019. Prizes will be awarded at the Gala Evening on 2nd August to the winning schools, as well as to those students and schools who stand out in the various categories.

Tickets go on sale for the Primary School Production (31st July 2019), the High School Drama Production (1st August 2019) by mid- June and further details will be made available on the festival via the municipal facebook page, website, app and twitter account. Limited tickets will be sold for the Gala Evening Production on 2nd August 2019. Please contact Heather Stead for the purchase of tickets.

The project is looking for sponsorship of prizes  in the form of a financial prize or energy efficiency product,  and any individuals or businesses that would like to contribute are requested to make contact with Heather Stead on heatherstead.mail@gmail.com or 072 369 3304.
