Description
Executive Mayor Browen Johnson was born in Bonnievale in April 1985 and is the youngest of four children. In 2011, he and his wife of 14 years, Lucille, relocated to George due to work commitments. It was here that he began his professional career at George Hospital, serving as a radiographer.
Together, Executive Mayor Johnson and his wife are proud parents to three wonderful children – Calum, Ava-Mae, and Levi. After settling in George making the city their home, he became actively involved in his local community. Driven by a strong belief in active citizenship and the importance of being part of the solution, he joined his local ward committee, where he began formally engaging with community issues and representing residents’ concerns.
His commitment to public service and community development led to his nomination as the Ward Councillor candidate for Ward 23. In November 2021, he was elected as Ward Councillor, where he quickly demonstrated strong leadership, accessibility, and a deep commitment to serving the people of his ward.
Since his election as Ward Councillor, Executive Mayor Johnson has held several senior leadership positions within George Municipality, including:
• 2021 – 2024: Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Civil Engineering Services
• 2024 – 2025: Deputy Executive Mayor of George Municipality
In November 2025, he was elected as the Executive Mayor of George Municipality.

He firmly believes in ethical leadership, accountable governance, and community-centred service delivery. As a family man and devoted public servant, he approaches his role with a strong sense of responsibility, ensuring that the Office of the Executive Mayor remains accessible, respectful, and focused on improving the lives of all who call George home.
