MEDIA STATEMENT: Update on Ebb and Flow Pipeline Failure
Issued Monday 19 April @ 16h00
The Civil Engineering Department confirms that the manufacturing of full length steel piping, specific sized bends and modified or new manufactured couplings, as a permanent solution to the pipeline failure at Ebb and Flow, is close to being completed. The service provider will continue with the final assembly being done with installation on site. The installation process is expected to be completed by 20h00 tonight.
Following the completion of the installation, the pipeline will be pressure tested and it will then take several hours for the reservoir to be filled and for the system to stabilize.
George Municipality apologizes for the inconvenience and continues with the operation of water tankers to alleviate the water outage.
Water tankers have been in Touwsranten and Hoekwil from 06h00 this morning. The water tankers are stationed at Adonis Street; Jasper Street; Thyz Jacobz Retirement Village (Church Street, Hoekwil) and Denneboom Street (roaming).
