Refuse collection and Municipal Offices closed for Easter Public Holidays

George Municipality hereby advises the public that all municipal offices will close on Thursday, 2 April at 12:00 and reopen on Tuesday, 7 April at 07:45.

Refuse removal services will continue as per the normal schedule on this day and throughout the Easter weekend period. Households and businesses are reminded to place refuse out by 07:00.

The Cashier Halls at the Main Building on York Street and the Market Street offices will close at 11:30. All libraries will be closed over the Easter weekend. The swimming pools in Conville and Uniondale will be open over the weekend, operating during normal hours.
Offices of Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) Office and Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) in Hibernia Street, MVR Blanco and Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) in Pacaltsdorp will also be closing at 11:30 to the public.

Residents are urged to take note of these arrangements and to plan accordingly. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Refuse collection will proceed as normal on Thursday, 2 April 2026, as well as on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Business refuse removal will take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, as per the usual schedule.

Building rubble, garden waste, and other materials not suitable for bag collection may be disposed of at the municipal refuse site on the R102 (Airport Road).

Operating hours are as follows: Monday to Friday 07:00–18:00, Saturday 07:00–15:00, and on all public holidays (excluding 25 December).
All emergency services will remain operational throughout the Easter weekend.
