Pipe Burst – Wilderness

Please be advised that there has been a pipe burst affecting water supply in the Wilderness area, specifically on South Street.

The estimated repair time is 4-5 hours.

Water Supply Location: A Water truck will be located in the parking area opposite the Wilderness Hotel, near the Circle.

Public Notice: Delay in Refuse Removal

The George Municipality regrets to inform residents that refuse removal scheduled for today, 27 January 2025, could not be completed due to adverse weather conditions. Heavy rain has caused operational challenges, with only five trucks available, and employees unable to continue due to being soaked and unsafe working conditions.

Refuse collection will resume tomorrow, and today’s work will also be completed.

Affected Areas:
Blanco, Riverlea, Heatherpark, Heatherlands, Glen Barrie, Kraaibosch, Groenkloof, Blue Mountain Village, Herold’s Bay, Victoria Bay, Rondevlei area (George side), and businesses.

Pipe Burst on N2, Wildernes

George Municipality is aware of a pipe burst that occurred next to the N2, across from Salinas Restaurant.

The following areas are affected:
Milwood Village
Die Duine
South Side
Anchorage

A water truck has been dispatched and will be roaming the affected areas.

Contractors are en route, with an estimated time of arrival for repairs between 4 to 6 hours.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Traffic lights out of order in Nelson Mandela Boulevard due to vandalism

Please note that the traffic lights in Nelson Mandela Boulevard, between Lawaaikamp (Pienaar Street and Nelson Mandela Boulevard intersection) and Conville Police Station (Pienaar Street and Nelson Mandela Boulevard), are currently out of order due to theft and vandalism of electrical cables.
A suspect was apprehended and charged early this morning at 05h00 after being caught in the act of setting one of the boxes alight and removing copper wires. Unfortunately, three of the boxes were completely destroyed by the vandalism.
Repairs and Traffic Arrangements
• The traffic lights will remain off until repairs are completed, which are expected to take one or two days.
• Our Civils Directorate will assist by installing necessary signage where required.
• The Traffic Department will deploy point duty officers during peak hours, lunch breaks, early mornings, and end-of-day rush to manage traffic and ensure safety.
We kindly request all road users to exercise patience and caution while driving through the affected area. Your cooperation is appreciated as we work to restore normal traffic flow.

Die geskatte tyd vir herstelwerk is ongeveer 3-4 uur.

’n Watertenk sal in die geaffekteerde gebiede rond ry om water aan inwoners te voorsien.

Ons vra om verskoning vir enige ongerief wat veroorsaak is en bedank die publiek vir hul geduld.

We are currently attending to a water pipe burst in Fawn Street, Delville Park.

The estimated time for repair is approximately 4-5 hours.

A water truck will be roaming the affected area.

PIPE BURST IN LOERIE PARK

We are currently attending to a water pipe burst in Loerie Park, at the intersection of Boekenhout and 4th Street.

An electrical cable was also damaged in the process, and we are awaiting repairs. Once this is completed, the pipe repair will continue.

The estimated time for repair is approximately 3-4 hours.

A water truck will be roaming the affected area.
