Eskom loadshedding announced – Wednesday, 19 March 2025

We continue to prioritising planned maintenance to strengthen system reliability ahead of the winter months, while ensuring adherence to environmental and licensing conditions.

Unplanned water outage: Seaview, Pacaltsdorp

A water outage is experienced in a portion of Seaview after a contractor damaged one of the main water pipelines at the intersection of Protea and Amaryllis Streets in Pacaltsdorp. Our maintenance team isolated the damaged section of pipeline and will commence with repairs shortly.

A water truck will be stationed in Amaryllis Street to provide residents with potable water.

The expected time for repairs is 4-5 hours.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank the residents for their patience, while we do the repairs.

Update planned water Outage: Denneoord

Our Water Maintenence team, in conjuction with the Contractor responsible for the Denneoord Water Network, are busy finalising the connection to the new pipeline.

It’s taking longer than expected, due to technical difficulties experienced during the course of today, but we trust to have the water reinstated within the next 1-2 hours.

Water trucks are roaming the affected areas to supply residents with potable water.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank the public for their patience.

Job Scam Alert

The George Municipality urges residents to remain vigilant as new scams targeting job seekers continue to emerge.

In the latest scam brought to our attention, an individual using the name Mr. Mphele is falsely claiming to be a Director in the Municipality’s Civil Engineering Services (CES) department. According to reports, the scammer contacted a victim, demanding a payment of R3,500 in exchange for a job interview and potential employment in the department. Alarmingly, the scammer possessed accurate personal details of the victim, which he claimed to have obtained from the Municipality’s Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) database.

This is not an isolated case. Similar scams have been reported in recent months, where fraudsters impersonate EPWP personnel to extort money from job seekers. In these cases, victims are instructed to send money via money transfer services with the false promise of securing a spot on the EPWP employment list and receiving a uniform.

Important Notice to the Public
The George Municipality does not and will never request payment for job interviews or employment opportunities. If you are approached by anyone demanding money for employment within the Municipality, please report the incident immediately.
