The George Municipality warns residents of a scam involving a fraudster impersonating a municipal official. This person (who has called himself Charles and my use any other name) calls residents, falsely claiming to represent the municipality and threatening to disconnect electricity if payment is not made immediately.

🔴 IMPORTANT REMINDER:
• The municipality will NEVER call or send a link for account payments.
• Do not share your personal or financial information with strangers.
• Avoid clicking on suspicious links.

🚰 The Central/Industrial pipeline is experiencing water disruptions due to a faulty valve, requiring a larger area to be isolated. Portions of Denneoord have been affected.
🔧 A contractor is currently working on the reconnection.
⏳ Estimated Time of Repair (ETR): 21h00.
💧 Water Tanker Location: Park at the corner of St. Pauls & Charlotte Streets.

Public Notice: Possible delays in black refuse bags and green bag collection

The public should be aware that due to unforeseen circumstances, vehicles are limited today, and several compactor trucks are temporarily out of service. Waste collection is affected in some areas, but our teams will work overtime to ensure service delivery.
Areas affected are Maraiskamp, Ballotsview, Borcherds, Lawaaikamp, Parkdene, Rosemoor, Thembalethu Zone 8 and 9 and CBD areas.
Due to operational constraints, only three trucks are available for green bag collections and delays are expected.
To minimise disruptions, all available trucks will assist in the affected areas.
We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Controlled Fire Burn in Denneoord

🔥 The George Fire Department is conducting a small controlled burn in Denneoord today for fuel reduction and safety purposes.

⚠️ Residents are advised not to be alarmed if they see fire or smoke in the area.

This operation is planned and managed by fire professionals to reduce wildfire risks.
