Earlier today an unexpected power outage was reported in Parkdene. Electricians were dispatched and discovered that the power outage was caused by vandalism. The repair work is in progress and the estimated time of repair is approximately 17:00.
George Libraries would like to urge all library patrons to please return all books that they have on loan before or on the due date.
With SLIMS (Sita Library and Information Management System)fully functional and the availability of Impala for interlibrary loans, all library users are strongly encouraged to update their membership and to encourage other members of their families to join the library before schools re-open. New library memberships are also accepted at all libraries for the OverDrive e-book system.
Library members with overdue library materials must also return these items as other patrons are waiting for specific titles to enhance their recreational, research, cultural and information needs.

In light of municipal offices closing at 12:00 today, 22 December and on Friday, 29 December 2023, the MVR offices in Hibernia Street and Blanco, the Vehicle Testing Station, and the Traffic Centre (DLTC) in Pacaltsdorp will close gates at 11:00 on both 22 and 29 December to assist all members of the public remaining on the premises and cash-up in time to leave at 12:00.
