Public Notice: George Municipality and Department Social Development hosting Capacity Building Workshop
The George Municipality, in collaboration with the Department of Social Development (DSD), will host a Capacity Building Workshop for Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) on 12 and 13 March 2025 at the George Municipal Banquet Hall, starting at 09:30 each day.
Facilitated by DSD officials, the workshop aims to equip NPOs with essential knowledge to meet their obligations under the NPO Act 71 of 1997.
According to Jonel Kerspuy, Coordinator: Youth Development at George Municipality, participants will learn how to establish and maintain an effective non-profit board, a crucial aspect of ensuring good governance and strategic leadership within their organisations. The session will also cover fundraising basics and strategies for identifying potential donors, helping NPOs secure the resources they need to sustain their initiatives.
Additionally, attendees will gain insights into the importance of building and maintaining strong donor relationships, a key factor in long-term funding success. The workshop will also provide guidance on writing compelling proposals, enabling NPOs to effectively communicate their mission and needs to potential funders.
Kerspuy said that this event presents a unique opportunity for registered NPOs and those in the process of registering to gain critical skills, network with fellow organisations, and engage with officials from the DSD and George Municipality.
NPOs interested in attending are encouraged to participate and take advantage of this vital resource.
