The refurbishment of the Herold’s Bay Wastewater Treatment Works will have an impact on residents and road users during the construction period from
September 2024 to July 2025. The estimated construction duration is 10 months.

PROJECT:
REFURBISHMENT OF THE HEROLD’S BAY WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKS

DESCRIPTION:
Refurbishment of existing Wastewater Stabilization Ponds. The existing concrete lining will be demolished and removed from the site. A new underdrain system will be installed, and the existing cement lining will be replaced with a waterproof lining system. A new tanker discharge chamber will be constructed with the required access road.

PROJECT PERIOD:
September 2024 to July 2025

SERVICE DISRUPTION:
Municipal services may be disrupted during construction. Advance notification of planned temporary disruptions will be sent out via social media.

WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 17h00 on Mondays to Fridays and 07h00 – 14h00 on Saturdays as may be needed from time to time.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:
Caution needs to be exercised by residents, road users and pedestrians throughout the duration of the construction period.

ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. Any member of the public who enters the site will have to comply with the relevant requirements in terms of the Health and Safety Act.

PACALTSDORP : HEATHER , HAYDN & ROSE STREET

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
George Municipality is upgrading Heather Street, Haydn Street, and Rose Street (Pacaltsdorp) together with associated works including universally accessible sidewalks and upgrading associated stormwater and structures.

CONSTRUCTION PERIOD:
October 2024 to 30 June 2026

SERVICES DISRUPTION
Municipal services may be disrupted during this period due to construction activities.

Whenever possible, advance notification of temporary disruptions will be sent out via social media.

WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 18h00 Mondays to Fridays and 07h00 -14h00 on Saturdays as may be needed from time to time.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:
The streets will be constructed in demarcated half-width sections and will remain open for one-way traffic in an anticlockwise direction.

Construction preparation activities will commence in October 2024.
Road users and pedestrians are advised to take extra care throughout the construction period and if possible, avoid using these streets to alleviate traffic disruptions. Adherence to temporary road signage and markings is required.

Unexpected water outage in Blanco. A main water pipeline was damaged.

Affected streets are Vrugte, John Kretzinger and Die Rus.

Municipal teams are on site attending to the repair.

A water tanker had been dispatched and will roam the affected streets.

PORTION OF HEATHERLANDS – MORNING GLORY, ERICA AND HAWTHORNDENE STREETS

NOTICE is hereby given that the electricity supply will be interrupted on  THURSDAY 3 OCTOBER 2024  FROM  09H00 TO 16H00 for the purpose of doing alterations to the electrical mains.  Consumers are warned to treat the installation as being live for the full duration as the supply may be resumed at any time within the notified period.

Should circumstances prevent the work being carried out during the abovementioned period; the work will be done on FRIDAY 4 OCTOBER 2024 FROM  09H00 TO16H00.

This is a notification for the planned construction of a BES System for the George Municipality Main Building (Civic Centre), planned to start on the 1st of October 2024 and the planned completion date is March 2025.

Please refer to the Aerial View showing the BESS building position marked in red with the cable route to interlink with the existing main distribution board.

George staff and the public are requested to exercise caution when passing by the construction site.

The upgrade of sewer infrastructure servicing in Gqeba Street, Thembalethu will have an impact on residents and road users for the estimated period from 19 August 2024 to 18 October 2024.

DESCRIPTION:
To accommodate current and future sewage flows a section of sewerage reticulation in Gqeba Street, Thembalethu, must be upgraded.

The scope of works consists of trench excavations for the upgrading of an existing 180-meter gravity sewer pipeline.

PROJECT PERIOD
19 August 2024 to 18 October 2024.

SERVICE DISRUPTION:
Municipal services may be disrupted during construction. Advance notification of planned temporary disruptions will be sent out via social media.

The contractor will communicate directly with residents regarding access to properties.

WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 17h00 Mondays to Fridays and 07h00 – 14h00 on Saturdays as may be needed.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:
Residents, road users and pedestrians need to exercise caution throughout the duration of the construction period. Please adhere to flag persons, temporary road signage and road markings.

Access to properties will be addressed by the Contractor with the homeowners on site.

ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. No member of the public will be allowed access to the construction area, in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Access to erven at the construction area will be arranged with the affected resident by the contractor.
