Unplanned Power Outage – Pikkewyn Street, Eden Area

Please be advised that there is an unplanned power outage on Pikkewyn Street, Eden due to damaged Low Voltage (LV) cables in the Minisub. Our electrician is currently on site conducting repairs.

The power is expected to be restored within approximately 2 hours.

Uniondale Library Services- Temporary Closure

Uniondale Library will be closed for services today from 2 pm today, 23 January and tomorrow 24 January 2025 due to operational requirements.

Services will resume as normal on Monday 27 January 2025.

WATER OUTAGE IN PARKDENE, 22 January 2025 @ 22:13

George Municipality is aware of a water outage affecting the Circular Drive Informal Settlement in Parkdene.

To assist residents during this time, a water truck has been dispatched to supply water.

The truck will withdraw overnight and will be available again from 5:00 AM on Thursday, 23 January 2025.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this outage and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Streetlight Outage Due to Vandalism in Rosedale

 
A significant portion of Rosedale will be without streetlights tonight due to theft and vandalism.
 
The affected area includes Abel and Eve Streets.
 
To ensure the safety of residents, the vandalized cables have been secured. Repairs on this section will commence tomorrow, and an Estimated Time of Restoration (ETR) will be provided as soon as possible.
 
We apologise for the inconvenience and urge residents to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.

UNPLANNED POWER OUTAGE IN THEMBALETHU: ZONE 7 & 8

Please be advised that an unplanned power outage is currently affecting Zone 7 and Zone 8 in Thembalethu. Electricians have been dispatched to investigate the issue.

The Estimated Time of Restoration (ETR) will be communicated once available.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience.

Delays in Refuse Collection

George Municipality wishes to inform residents about delays in refuse collection caused by the breakdown of several compactor trucks.

While some trucks have already been repaired, the current number of operational vehicles is insufficient to ensure prompt collection.

Affected Areas:
• Wilderness East: Collection will begin later than scheduled.
• George CBD, Businesses, Schools, and Glentana: Expect delays in refuse collection.

To manage the situation, internal operations have been adjusted to prioritise the use of available trucks. Refuse collection in the affected areas will commence as soon as trucks complete their initial rounds.

Important Information:
Residents are kindly requested to leave their refuse outside until collection is completed. Rest assured; all refuse will be collected as soon as possible.
