FIBRE CABLE DAMAGE – SERVICE DISRUPTION NOTICE

Please be advised that the fibre cable has been damaged near the Human Settlements Department (old York Hostel). As a result, connectivity to the following sites has been affected:

* Human Settlements Department (old York Hostel)
* Traffic Department

Telephone lines at the affected sites are also impacted by this disruption.

Technicians are currently on-site working to resolve the issue. Further updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.

Please take note that the Natis system at the George Traffic Department in Mission Street, Pacaltsdorp is ONLINE AGAIN after some technical problems.

George Municipality Publishes Comprehensive Water Conservation FAQ

George Municipality has published a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document as part of its ongoing Water Conservation Campaign.

The FAQ provides clear information on the current water situation, Level 2D Water Demand Management Measures, Level 3 Emergency Water Tariffs, groundwater initiatives, infrastructure limitations, development controls, rainwater tank compliance, and what residents can do to help protect water resources.

The document aims to address common public concerns and improve understanding of the measures currently in place to safeguard George’s water supply.

Refuse removal service delays

 

George Municipality would like to inform residents that refuse removal services will experience delays today, Monday, 16 February 2026, due to operational challenges.

Collection teams are actively attending to all affected areas and will continue working beyond normal operating hours to ensure that all refuse is collected as scheduled.

The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and requests residents’ patience and understanding while services are being completed.
