UPGRADING OF SCHAAPKOP PUMP STATION & ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE
DESCRIPTION:
The construction work includes civil, mechanical, and electrical upgrades to the Schaapkop Sewage Pump station. The civil upgrades will also include replacing an old pipe bridge and 500mm diameter sewer pipe (approximately 130m long) with a new pipe bridge and 800mm diameter sewer pipe. The sewer pipes around the pump station will also be diverted and upgraded.
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
Operational interruptions can be expected during the construction works of the pump station and the sewer pipelines. Notification of planned temporary disruptions and the effects thereof will be issued in advance, via social media.
WORKING HOURS:
Mondays to Fridays: 07h00 to 17h00
Saturdays: 07h00 to 14h00 as may be required from time to time
IMPACT:
The intended construction works will take place inside the sewage pump station site and extend towards the west and across the Schaapkop River for the replacement of the 500mm diameter sewer pipe and pipe bridge. The work area will be fully closed to the public throughout the duration of the construction period. Odour and noise may be experienced during this period.
ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. In terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85(93), no member of the public will be allowed access to the construction area.
