Media Release: Wrap on Incidents related to  Flooding for George Municipal area

Heavy rainfall over two days (3/4 June) resulted in some localized flooding in the George Municipal area however no major incidents were reported.

5 Motor Vehicle Accidents (R102, N2 Gwaing Bridge, Garden Route Mall, N2 Pacaltsdorp, Outeniqua Pass – no injuries
Fallen trees – Thembalethu Potgieter se Dam, Harry Comay Hospital, Hoekwil, Wilderness, removed by George Fire Services
Sandbags – +_ 10 issued to community members.

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT

The vehicle Testing Station closed Tuesday 4 June due to localized flooding and reopened on 5 June.

5 June – West Access Road to Haarlem is currently inaccessible due to flooding. (Provincial Road)

ELECTROTECHNICAL SERVICES
SS Wilderness tripped early hours of 4 June; load was picked up by George Municipality. Wilderness Network was restored to ESKOM grid by late afternoon.
