Temporary closure of Environmental Services for fumigation

Please take note that the Environmental Services offices, located at 82 Meade Street, will be closed to the public from 15:30 on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, to allow for scheduled fumigation.
This routine intervention forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment for both employees and the public.
The office will reopen on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, during normal business hours.
Appropriate notices will be displayed at the premises to notify the public of the temporary closure.

Power Supply Restored in George

The George Municipality is pleased to inform residents that the electricity supply has been fully restored to all affected areas following the earlier outage.

The outage, which was caused by a trip on the 66kV subtransmission line, has been successfully resolved by our technical teams. Power has been restored safely and steadily across the network.

Power Outage Affecting Large Areas of George

The George Municipality is aware that a large portion of George is currently without electricity due to a major power outage.

The outage has been caused by a trip on the 66kV subtransmission line, which has interrupted power supply to several areas.

Our teams are investigating the fault and working urgently to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available
