UNEXPECTED POWER OUTAGE IN CONVILLE AND PARKDENE

Please be advised that there is an unexpected power outage currently affecting the Conville and Parkdene areas.

Our electrician has been dispatched to investigate the issue, and we are working to restore power as quickly as possible.

NEW WTW 20MLD EXTENSION: Service water Tie-in: Tuesday 21 January 25

DESCRIPTION:
A Tie-in on the rising main from Pump Station No. 2 (pumps to the Old Treatment works). The shutdown will start at 7:00 and should be finished by 15:00, the duration will be approximately 8 hours.

CONSTRUCTION PERIOD:
21 January 2025

SERVICE DISRUPTION:
The supply of potable water to the residents of George Municipality should not be disrupted while the construction work is carried out during the period above. Further communication will follow should circumstances change.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:
No impact on traffic.

ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the construction site will be strictly controlled. In accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, no members of the public will be allowed in the construction area.

Low Water Pressure in Wilderness East

The George Municipality is currently aware of low water pressure in the Wilderness East area.

Our teams are actively investigating the cause of the issue. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

UPDATED PUBLIC NOTICE: Gwaiing Landfill Site open again

The Gwaiing landfill site is open today (Thursday, 16 January) after it was closed yesterday due to inclement weather.
Please note, yesterday’s green bags will be removed today. Removal of refuse will continue on the normal schedule from today onwards.
The George Waste Transfer Station remains open for the disposal of domestic waste. We ask the public to be extra cautious when driving at the landfill site, since the site is still muddy after the rain.

PUBLIC NOTICE: NATIS SYSTEMS DOWN: PACALTSDORP

Please NOTE that the Natis system is down/offline at George DLTC.
NO transactions including License renewals or applications can be done at this stage.

It has been reported to the Department of Transport. Systems are down nationally. We will send an update as soon as the fault has been resolved.
