The upgrade of the bulk water pipeline servicing Thembalethu, Parkdene and Lawaaikamp from the c/o Vuyani Ncamazana Street and Nelson Mandela Boulevard will have an impact on road users for the period from 09 July 2022 to 30 September 2022.
The existing bulk and distribution water pipeline servicing Lawaaikamp, Parkdene and Thembalethu from the c/o Vuyani Ncamazana Street, Main Street and Nelson Mandela Blvd, as well as portions of Stanford Mangaliso Street, will be upgraded.
09 July 2022 to 30 September 2022
To minimize disruption to traffic, construction work crossing Nelson Mandela Boulevard will be limited to night-time working (between 18h00 and 06h00). Municipal services may be disrupted during construction. Advance notification of planned temporary water and traffic disruptions will be sent out via social media. Valve chambers will be constructed in the adjacent road reserve in this period as well.
The street will be partially closed to traffic during the construction period. Construction is planned for night-time operation to minimize traffic congestion. Extra care needs to be taken by road users and pedestrians throughout the duration of the construction period. Adherence to temporary road signage and markings will be required.
