Update: NATIS SYSTEM WAS RESTORED AT BLANCO MVR AND PACALTSDORP DLTC

Please be advised that the NATIS System is currently up and running at Blanco Motor Vehicle Registration and at Pacaltsdorp DLTC.

The system is however still down at the Motor Vehicle Registration (next to the train station) in Hibernia Street. No transactions can be done at MVR in Hibernia Street office currently.

Technicians are working on the problem. We apologise to the public for the inconvenience of this situation that is out of our control.

George, Wilderness, and Uniondale boast a diverse range of lifestyle, business, sports, and cultural events. George Municipality continuously considers sponsorship and/or partnerships with local events to promote economic activity and social cohesion.

Aligned with George Municipality’s commitment to support events hosted in George, the Tourism Section is hosting the annual Events Compliance & Support Workshop for all event organisers on Friday, February 16th, 2024, from 09:00 to 13:00 at the George Municipality Conference Hall.

This workshop aims to equip event organisers with information on event permitting, regulations, municipal services, and the event support application process.

Rehabilitation of PW Botha Boulevard and Ossie Urban Road Intersection

REHABILITATION OF PW BOTHA BOULEVARD AND OSSIE URBAN ROAD INTERSECTION
 
The rehabilitation of the Intersection, will have an impact on road users in
Tamsui Industria for the period from 12 February 2024 to July 2024.
 
DESCRIPTION:
Pavement rehabilitation will be done on the PW Botha Boulevard and Ossie Urban Road intersection in Tamsui Industria.
 
CONSTRUCTION PERIOD:
12 February 2024 – 31 July 2024 (Weather permitting)
 
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
There will be accommodation of traffic due to road closures with alternative routes indicated. There maybe Municipal Services disruptions during construction. Advance notification of planned temporary disruptions will be sent out via social media.
 
WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 18h00 Mondays to Fridays and 07h00 – 14h00 on Saturdays as may be needed from time to time.
 
TRAFFIC IMPACT:
The PW Botha Boulevard and Ossie Urban Road intersection will be reconstructed in 2 phases. The first phase west direction is commencing on 12 February 2024. The contractor will close half of the intersection until April 2024 to allow them to construct the new layer works / kerbs / Asphalt. This will allow that traffic
movement through Pearl Street. Extra care is to be taken by road users and pedestrians throughout the duration of the construction period. Adherence to temporary road signage and markings will be required.
 
ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. Any member of the public who enters the site will have to comply with the relevant requirements in terms of the Health and Safety Act.

The George Municipality apologises for any inconvenience and appeals to all road users to be patient and exercise caution during the upgrade.
Please look out for and adhere to temporary road signage and roadworks personnel.

Public Notice: NATIS SYSTEM DOWN AT MVR and slow at DLTC, Pacaltsdorp

Please be advised that the NATIS System is currently down at the Motor Vehicle Registration (next to the train station) and is very slow at the Blanco satellite office. No transactions can be done at MVR in Hibernia Street office currently.

The system is also very slow at the Traffic Services Department (DLTC) in Pacaltsdorp. The machines are operational but the situation affects transactions and services at the DLTC.

Technicians have been informed of the problem and the public is asked to be patient.

Eskom Load-shedding Update: Wednesday, 07 February 2024

Due to sufficient emergency reserves and a slight increase in available generation capacity, resulting from the return to service of two units, loadshedding will be reduced to Stage 1 from 10:00 today until 14:00.

Thereafter, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 14:00 until further notice.
