The road rehabilitation and upgrade of stormwater infrastructure: Loerie Park, Bergsig, Denneoord, Denver Park, Eden and Swart River Dam
The road rehabilitation and upgrade of stormwater infrastructure in Loerie Park, Bergsig, Denneoord, Denver Park, Eden and Swart River Dam Access Road Land Slip, will have an impact on residents and road users for the period from August 2024 to June 2025.
The construction duration is estimated at 10 months.
DESCRIPTION:
Road rehabilitation includes repairs to the base layers, surface layers, curbs and channels.
Stormwater infrastructure upgrades include the construction of gabions, inlet/outlet structures, catch pits and manholes.
PROJECT PERIOD:
August 2024 to June 2025
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
Municipal services may be disrupted during construction. Advance notification of planned temporary disruptions will be sent out via social media.
WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 18h00 Mondays to Fridays and – 14h00 on Saturdays as may be needed from time to time.
TRAFFIC IMPACT:
Caution needs to be exercised by residents, road users and pedestrians throughout the duration of the construction period.
Adherence to flag persons, temporary road signage and markings will be required.
Sections of the road may be closed to the public, but access will be granted for residents.
ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. Any member of the public who enters the site will have to comply with the relevant requirements in terms of the Health and Safety Act.

UPDATE: UNPLANNED POWER OUTAGE- WILDERNESS
George Municipality is aware that there are still some areas in Wilderness, without power supply. ESKOM has informed us that they are busy patrolling the overhead line from Rheenendal towards Wilderness.
The George municipality meanwhile is temporarily supplying electricity to parts of Wilderness.
Please know that we remain in constant contact with ESKOM and will continue to update our platforms.

Public Notice: NATIS SYSTEM RESTORED AT MVR Blanco
Please note Blanco MVR is back online. Service will continue as normal from tomorrow, Thursday, August 29th 2024.
The system was down for a considerable amount of time due to a network problem.
The system is also fully operational at the MVR in Hibernia Street and at Pacaltsdorp Traffic Services Department (DLTC).
REPAIRS TO ROAD SLIP FAILURES ALONG WHITES ROAD, WILDERNESS

The repairs to road slip failures will have an impact on residents, pedestrians, runners, cyclists and road users. Construction commenced in August 2024. The estimated construction duration is 2 months.
DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this Contract is to repair two road slip failures along Whites Road, Wilderness.
The works involve the installation of retaining structures and repairs to the roadway and drainage system
PROJECT PERIOD:
• PHASE 1: 5 – 30 AUGUST 2024 (COMPLETED)
• PHASE 2: 02 SEPTEMBER 2024 TILL 04 OCTOBER 2024 (FULL ROAD CLOSURE)
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
No Municipal services will be affected. Road lane closures will be implemented along the affected areas.
The Contractor will liaise with affected residents in advance, to arrange local access where and when required.
WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 18h00 Mondays to Fridays, and potentially from 07h00 to 14h00 on Saturdays.
IMPACT:
The construction area will be fully closed to the public. No pedestrians, runners or cyclists may access the construction area throughout the duration of the construction period. Flag persons and temporary road signage must be always adhered to.

Access to the construction site will be strictly controlled. No member of the public will be allowed access to the construction area, in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

UPGRADING OF THE INDUSTRIAL WATER PIPELINE – DENNEOORD

UPGRADING OF THE INDUSTRIAL WATER PIPELINE – DENNEOORD
DESCRIPTION:
The existing 300mm Ø bulk pipeline reached the end of its design life and the durability of the
pipeline was a concern. The scope of work consists of the construction of a new 728m long,
315mm diameter uPVC class 9 water pipeline. The section of pipeline to be realigned starts at
the corner of 8th and 9th Avenues, follows Eiland Road, and ends in St Pauls Street.
The Municipality terminated the original Contractor appointment, and a new Contractor will
be appointed to complete the project.
PROJECT PERIOD:
Initial Project Period: November 2023 to June 2024
Revised Project Period: September 2024 to November 2024
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
No Municipal services will be affected.
WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 18h00 Mondays to Fridays and 07h00 – 14h00 on
Saturdays as may be needed from time to time.
IMPACT:
The construction area will be fully closed to the public. No vehicles, pedestrians, runners,
cyclists or scholars may access the construction area throughout the duration of the
construction period and are to take extreme caution when making use of the roadway adjacent
to the site. Flag persons and temporary road signage must be adhered to at all times.
