Public Notice of CONSTRUCTION WORK: LAKE ROAD, WILDERNESS – ELECTRICAL WORK

Residents are advised that there will be construction work taking place along the road reserve on some parts of Lake Road, as highlighted in red on the photos above from the 6 May 2024 to 31 July 2024.

This work is required for the conversion of existing low-voltage overhead lines to an underground cable system.  It will include along roadside trenching, backfilling, breaking up and repairing tarred concrete or brick paved driveways. It will be ensured that trenching across driveways is re-instated the same day.  Trenching will be barricaded and will be done in sections.

Direct notices will be given in advance to residents whose driveways will be affected.

The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience and thanks all residents for their co-operation.

Planned Interruption of Electricity Supply Postponed in Loerie Park

The planned electricity supply interruption originally scheduled for Friday, 26 April 2024, from 09:00 to 16:30, has been postponed. The new date for the power supply interruption is Friday, 3 May 2024, between 09:00 and 16:30.

Affected Areas: Portion Of Loerie Park – First Street

Consumers are advised to treat the installation as live for the full duration as the supply may resume at any time within the notified period.

Municipal Offices closed for upcoming Public Holidays

Municipal Offices CLOSED for Public Holidays
Please be advised that the George Municipality offices will be closed for the upcoming Public Holidays, namely, the 1st (Worker’s Day) and 29th (General Elections) of May 2024.
We urge all George residents to take note of these closures and to plan their business accordingly. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Please be advised that the emergency number of the credit control department outside of business hours has been changed.
 
The new emergency number is 072 501 1843.
This number is to be used strictly for EMERGENCY BLOCKED ELECTRICITY METERS during the following hours: Monday to Friday from 16:30 to 20:00, Saturday from 8:00 to 20:00 and Sunday from 8:00 to 14:00

GO GEORGE SCHEDULES ON UPCOMING PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

With two public holidays coming up, GO GEORGE calls on passengers to take note of the schedules that will be followed on these days.

Freedom Day (Saturday 27 April) will follow the normal Saturday schedule. The Saturday timetable will also apply on Workers’ Day (Wednesday 1 May).
