UPDATE: KAAIMANS ACCIDENT

An Accident occurred earlier today on the N2 National Road in Kaaimans. Emergency workers are clearing the road. One lane on each side of the road has been opened with traffic officials regulating the traffic flow. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously. Vehicle accident on Kaaiman’s – Please note one lane remains closed at present.
Emergency services are on site.

CONVILLE SWIMMING POOL CLOSE TEMPORARILY

The Conville swimming pool has been temporarily closed to the public from today, Monday, 05 December 2022 till Tuesday 13 December 2022 and will re-open to the public on Wednesday 14 December 2022. This is in preparation for the Eden Aquatics Western Cape Champs Gala, taking place from 09 to 13 December 2022.

Loadshedding will be reduced to Stage 3 at 05:00 on Monday morning and to Stage 2 at 05:00 on Tuesday until further notice.

Consumers are reminded to use electricity sparingly especially when power returns after load shedding.  This will reduce the risk of overload tripping on the network. Consumers are requested, where possible to not switch on appliances such as stoves and kettles for at least 30 minutes after load shedding.

This is to conserve the limited diesel stocks and to create space to replenish the dam levels in the pumped storage schemes.

ESKOM LOADSHEDDING UPDATE – Friday, 02 December 2022

Owing to the breakdown of six generating units at five power stations, the need to conserve emergency generation reserves, as well as the delay in returning to service numerous generating units, Eskom will implement continuous Stage 2 loadshedding from 16:00 until further notice. Eskom will publish a further update as soon as there are any significant changes.

Public Participation Process
The intended Water Restrictions and applicable Emergency Tariffs have been made available for public comment for a period of 14 days with notices published in the local media.

Notices have been placed at public libraries, area offices, Municipal offices and the Municipal Notice Boards.

Comments can be emailed to Ms Sam Gcagcaso at sgcagcaso@george.gov.za, or delivered as a handwritten submission on weekdays (07h45- 16h30) to the Department: Civil Engineering Services, Old Town Hall, corner of Market and York Streets, and by no later than 16h30 on 12 December 2022.

PLANNED POWER OUTAGE – Thembalethu Zone 9 – 1 December 2022

 

NOTIFICATION OF THE INTERRUPTION OF THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY.

THE FOLLOWING AREAS WILL BE AFFECTED:
PORTION OF THEMBALETHU: ZONE 9 – DICK, MNGOMA, QHAWA, TEYISE, SAMPISI, BOMVANA, SPOTOSE, GONGO, MAHE, GUSHA, KAZI, TAWULE, MAJOVA, HENDRICK STREETS

NOTICE is hereby given that the electricity supply will be interrupted on THURSDAY 01 DECEMBER 2022 FROM 09H00 TO 16H30 for the purpose of doing alterations to the electrical mains. Consumers are warned to treat the installation as being live for the full duration as the supply may be resumed at any time within the notified period.

Should circumstances prevent the work being carried out during the abovementioned period; the work will be done on MONDAY 05 DECEMBER 2022 FROM 09H00 TO 16H30

PROJECT:
Upgrading of Meul Sewer Pump Station
 
DESCRIPTION:
CIVIL WORK AT MEUL PUMP STATION, GEORGE.
 
PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES AT PUMPSTATION:
The realignment of the existing 400mm sewage rising main at the Meul Sewer Pumpstation.
 
PERIOD FOR DISRUPTION IN SERVICES:
29 November 2022, from 11h00 to 14h00
 
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
The public and residents of Saasveld, Welgelegen, Kraaibosch, and Blue Mountain are requested to use water sparingly during this time and to discharge as little as possible water into the sewer network. Please limit flushing toilets, washing clothes, dishes, shower or bathing.
 
CONSTRUCTION IMPACT:
The Meul Sewage Pump Station will be intermittently operational during this period.
 
ACCESS TO SITE:
The public is requested to stay away from the site, and the access road to the site, to prevent hinderance of the emergency work being executed and for health and safety compliance.
