George Municipality remains aware of several areas that still have no water and we are investigating the reasons for that. Please phone in to our Civils Call Centre 044 801 9262 or our After Hours Call Centre 044 801 6300 to indicate your street address, contact details.

Water trucks are currently located at or roaming to assist Schools and Clinics:
Parkdene Clinic
Rosemore Clinic with truck moving to St Mary’s school then Rosemore Primary school
Pacaltsdorp Clinic
Fairview Gardens and 1st Street
Conville Primary School then move to Parkdene High School

NOTIFICATION OF EMERGENCY INTERRUPTION OF THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY.

THE FOLLOWING AREAS WILL BE AFFECTED:
PORTION OF CONVILLE
MENTZ, KORHAAN, PEDDIE MULLER, VAN ROOYEN, STEYN, BUICK, FISKAAL STREETS

NOTICE is hereby given that the electricity supply will be interrupted on THURSDAY 20 JANUARY 2022 FROM 09H00 TO 17H00 for the purpose of doing alterations to the electrical mains. Consumers are warned to treat the installation as being live for the full duration as the supply may be resumed at any time within the notified period.

Should circumstances prevent the work being carried out during the abovementioned period; the work will be done on
FRIDAY 21 JANUARY 2022 FROM 09H00 TO 17H00

Public Notice: Water pressure and no water issues

George Municipality is aware that certain areas of George are experiencing very low water pressure and/or no water. The fault has been identified and will be addressed. The system is expected to normalize within an hour. Please ensure all taps indoors and outdoors are switched off in the interim to avoid loss of water.

Kindly do not phone in to report low water pressure or no water – we are fully aware of the situation.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Test results for 18 January 2022 taken at three areas along the river indicate that the Touw River is COMPLIANT at Ebb and Flow area, Lagoon and River Mouth for swimming and all water activity. Please note testing of the water quality is undertaken on a daily basis currently.

The investigation undertaken by the George Municipality requires further analysis and daily testing will continue.

Test results received have indicated that Touw River remains NON-COMPLIANT at Ebb and Flow area, Lagoon and River Mouth for Full Contact and NO SWIMMING IS ALLOWED at this stage.

Intermediate contact is allowed and therefore canoeing and water sports where you do not touch the water are permitted.

Test results received have indicated that Touw River remains NON-COMPLIANT at Ebb and Flow area, Lagoon and River Mouth. SWIMMING IS NOT PERMITTED at all anywhere in the Touw River. People are allowed to do canooing and water sports where you do not touch the water.

Test results received have indicated that Gwaiing River, River Mouth and Beach as well as Touw River, at Ebb and Flow area is now compliant for swimming and water sports. At Gwaiing swimming and water sports are allowed in the River, River Mouth and beach. For Touw River swimming and water sports are allowed upriver, at the river mouth and the lagoon.
George Municipality is together with SANparks finalizing the investigation of all private and business conservancy tanks in order to pinpoint the source of the non-compliance.

Urgent public notice: Gwaiing River closed

Urgent public notice: Gwaiing River including the River Mouth and beach area are closed currently due to an overflow at Proefplaas sewerage pump station. The overflow has occurred due to an electrical interruption. George Municipality will keep the public updated and apologise for this situation that is out of our control.
