UPGRADING OF PARKDENE WATER RETICULATION NETWORK
The upgrading of the water reticulation network in Parkdene will have an impact on the residents and road users during the construction period from February 2024 to March 2025. The estimated construction duration is 13 months.
PROJECT:
UPGRADING OF THE PARKDENE WATER RETICULATION NETWORK
DESCRIPTION:
The work consists of installing approximately 5700m of uPVC Class 16 water reticulation pipes varying in size from 75mm to 160mm, installing ERF connections, isolation valves, fire hydrants, as well as the installation of bulk water meters, road crossings and the associated reinstatement.
PROJECT PERIOD:
February 2024 to March 2025.
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
Interruptions can be expected during the connection to the existing reticulation, commissioning, re-connection, and installation of new smart water meters. Advance notification of planned temporary disruptions will be sent out via social media.
WORKING HOURS:
Working hours will be from 07h00 to 17h00 on Mondays to Fridays and 07h00 – 14h00 on Saturdays as may be needed from time to time.
IMPACT:
The intended construction works will take place mainly in the road reserves with some open trench road crossings planned and work on properties during water meter connections and commissioning. The works will impact on residents, pedestrians, scholars, runners, cyclists, and road users.
It is, however, important for the public to take notice of the intended works since there will be excavations and work done on existing water infrastructure. The work area will be fully closed to the public.
No pedestrians, scholars, runners, cyclists or other may access the construction area throughout the duration of the construction period. Access to properties will be managed between the contractor and the property occupants.
ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. No member of the public will be allowed access to the construction area, in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
