Unexpected Power Outage in Parts of Thembalethu

Parts of Thembalethu, including Zone 8, are currently experiencing power outages. The Electrotechnical team is on-site addressing the issue, which includes the removal of illegal connections. Repairs are ongoing, but an estimated time for restoration is not yet available.

URGENT NOTICE: Construction of a New Pacaltsdorp West Reservoir- Working Saturday
A planned construction of the New Pacaltsdorp (West) 14,5ML Reservoir, & Pump station, initially scheduled to take place on weekdays, will also include tomorrow, Saturday,19 October 2024 between 07:00 and 14:00.
SERVICE DISRUPTION:
Minor operational interruptions can be expected during the construction works. Advance notification of planned temporary disruptions and the effects thereof will be issued via social media.
TRAFFIC IMPACT:
Residents, road users and pedestrians need to exercise caution throughout the construction period. Please adhere to flag persons, temporary construction works and road signage.
ACCESS TO SITE:
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. No member of the public will be allowed access to the construction area, in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Indigent Re-registration Awareness Programme launched at Kidstop, Borcherds
The George Municipality, Credit Control section will conduct an indigent re-application programme today. Residents of Ward 20, Borcherds area are invited, and officials will be at the Kidstop Hall to tend to any indigent-related queries they may have.

Backburn underway in Denneoord

The George Fire Services is in control of a backburn underway near Denneoord.
No structures are at risk. Residents should not be concerned by the heavy smoke that is currently visible.
CONTROLLED BURNS

George Fire Rescue and Disaster Management services will carry out a Control Burn north of Loerie Park today due to favourable weather conditions.
Residents should be unaffected as the wind direction will move smoke away from the residential area. George Fire Services will closely monitor via the mobile JOC.
Control burns serve to reduce the fuel loading (dead leaves, tree limbs, and other debris), in areas and are implemented to prevent wildfires spreading.
