DESCRIPTION:

ELECTRICAL WORK AT MEUL PUMP STATION, GEORGE.

PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES AT THE PUMP STATION:

The new Motor Control Centre (MCC) and Generator are currently being installed at the Meul Sewage Pump station. The electrical switchover must now be done to activate the newly installed MCC and Generator.

PERIOD FOR DISRUPTION IN SERVICES:

24 November from 10h00 to 15h00

SERVICE DISRUPTION:

The public and residents of Saasveld, Welgelegen, Kraaibosch, Blue Mountain, Parkdene, Ballotsview, Conville, Rosemoor, Levalia, Glenwood, Loerie Park, Denver Park and Eden are requested to use water sparingly during this time and to discharge as little as possible water into the sewer network. Please limit flushing toilets, washing clothes, dishes, showering or bathing.

CONSTRUCTION IMPACT:

The Meul Sewage Pump Station will be intermittently operational during this period.

ACCESS TO THE SITE:

The public is requested to stay away from the site, and the access road to the site, to prevent hindrance to the emergency work being executed and for health and safety compliance.

All libraries in the George Municipal area are having problems issuing books and cards to members of the public, due to ongoing problems with SLIMS system. We apologize for the inconvenience that is beyond our control and requests the public to be patient with us until the matter is resolved.

ESKOM LOAD SHEDDING UPDATE

Stage 4 load shedding was implemented at 05:26 this morning until further notice. Breakdowns amounting to 17 056MW of generation capacity, low pumped storage dam levels and lack of diesel are the reasons for the increase in loadshedding. – (Eskom)

UPDATE: UNEXPECTED POWER OUTAGE IN PARTS OF GEORGE

The electricians are still looking for the fault following an unexpected power outage earlier today in part of George. However, the Electrotechnical Services have energised alternative feeders to restore power supply to the affected areas. Power has therefore been restored in all affected areas which are George CBD, Denneoord, Bo Dorp, Fernridge, Heather Park and Blanco. Please be advised that load shedding still continues at 08:00 this morning as these two incidents are separate from each other.

ELECTRICAL WORK AT EDEN SEWER PUMP STATION, GEORGE.

PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES AT EDEN PUMP STATION:

A new Motor Control Centre (MCC) has been installed at the Eden Sewer Pump Station.

The electrical switchover must now be done to activate the newly installed MCC, and the pump station will not be operational during this process.

PERIOD FOR DISRUPTION IN SERVICES:

17 November from 20h00 to 18 November 8h00.

SERVICE DISRUPTION:

The public and residents in EDEN, DENVER PARK and LOERIE PARK are requested to use water very sparingly during this time and to discharge as little water as possible into the sewer network.

Please limit the flushing of toilets, washing clothes and dishes, and use water very sparingly when showering or bathing.

CONSTRUCTION IMPACT:

The Eden sewer pump station will not be operational for this period and all inflow to the pump station will have to be removed using suction tankers to prevent any spillage.

ACCESS TO THE SITE:

This is a construction site and may not be accessed by the public for health and safety control, and to prevent hindrance to the emergency work being executed.
